While fruits and vegetables are your best sources, you can now add herbs to help boost your antioxidant arsenal.

Which are the most powerful?

Scientists measure antioxidant activity according to "oxygen radical absorbance capacity." The higher the ORAC number, the greater the antioxidant power.

Here's how the herbs in a recent U.S. Department of Agriculture study stack up in descending order of antioxidant activity.

CULINARY HERBS ORAC1. Mexican oregano 92.182. Italian oregano (a.k.a. sweet marjoram) 71.643. Greek mountain oregano 64.714. Sweet bay 31.705. Dill 29.126. Winter savory 26.347. Vietnamese coriander 22.908. Orange mint 19.809. Garden thyme 19.4910. Rosemary 19.1511. Lemon verbena 17.8812. English lavender 16.2013. Sweet basil 14.2714. Creeping thyme 13.4015. Lemon thyme 13.2816. Garden sage 12.2817. Pineapple sage 11.5518. Parsley 11.0319. Caraway 10.6520. Chives 9.1521. Spearmint 8.1022. Fennel 5.88

MEDICINAL HERBS Ginkgo 19.1824. St. John's wort 16.7725. Valerian 15.8226. Sweet wormwood 15.6927. Feverfew 10.0728. Lemon balm 9.5429. Balsam pear 3.4330. Aloe vera 1.88

Made a homemade pizza last evening and the OREGANO was out in full force.

Other ingredients included spinach, red peppers, onion, basil, four-cheese topping, Parm, tomato sauce, and a dash of Mrs. Dash.

Turned out EXCELLENT if I do say so myself.

Could do without the pepper, but sounds like a great idea.

I need to grill corn on the grill more often....good stuff.
